“My 8 year old son has been having lessons with Paul for 15 months now and absolutely loves them! He's always had a passion for music, so I wanted to get him started learning an instrument as early as possible. He's autistic, so he wasn't ready until he was 7 for various reasons, but Paul has been amazing with him. He is very shy, but he seems to have really bonded with Paul and openly speaks to him in front of me which is really special for me to see. He also struggles a lot with change, but on the very rare occasion that we've had to swap a time or day for his lesson, Paul has given me plenty of notice and I've been able to prepare him. On one occasion, I hadn't made sure he understood fully that the lesson time was different, and when we arrived he noticed that the clock said the wrong time, and then became very emotional. Paul was very understanding and helpful in that situation, he didn't pressure him to come to his lesson (he didn't manage to get through the door that week) and he said goodbye to him in the same way he always does, which massively helped with continuity and routine. He's come on amazingly with both his social confidence and his musical ability since starting his lessons, and he's actually just started learning one of his favourite songs!”
